New York, November 29, 2005 – Tuesday was the night for queer-themed
films on both coasts. While Brokeback Mountain was unspooling
in L.A., Transamerica made a quiet New York debut, weeks after
its bigger, splashier Hollywood
premiere. (Transamerica actually screened in the Big Apple
last Spring, at the Tribeca Film Festival, when the Weinstein
brothers picked it up for distribution.) None of the other Desperate
Housewives stars, nor her husband, William H. Macy,
was at the screening to cheer on Felicity Huffman’s
much buzzed about performance. The very handsome Kevin Zegers,
who plays Huffman’s son in the film, seemed quite smitten with starlet
Marisa Coughlan, who is ten years his senior.
