Los Angeles, November 10, 2005 – Johnny Depp declined to walk the red carpet at the BAFTA/LA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts/Los Angeles) on Thursday, because he didn’t want to upstage his own premiere of The Libertine, unfolding the next day. Depp was there to present one of the evening’s awards. Tom Cruise, who was there with pregnant girlfriend Katie Holmes, received an award. Cruise skipped walking the red carpet because, well, who the heck knows what Tom is thinking these days? Elizabeth Taylor, suffering from back pain, arrived regally in a wheelchair, showing the whippersnappers how Hollywood royalty does it with style.
