New York, November 1, 2005 – We here at Open All Night are as populist as anyone. All people are equal, and all that stuff. But we still followed Prince Charles and his new wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, on their whirlwind tour of New York. Camilla is cool; we like that she’s a country type who cares more about horses and gardening than about fashion and makeup. (Don’t get us wrong; we loved the devastatingly chic Diana, too.) Bizarrely, expat British journalist Tina Brown, who is writing a biography of the late Princess Diana, joined us on Charles' and Camilla's trail. Maybe she’s taking notes for a future Camilla bio? Anyway, the royals toured Ground Zero, dedicated a 9/11 memorial garden in lower Manhattan and stopped into the United Nations. In the evening, the couple was feted at the Museum of Modern art, where they didn’t have to cough up the $20 admission fee. |
