New York, August 22-23 – Nestled among those swanky little streets around Sutton Place is a rooftop tennis club where Maria Sharapova went on Monday to unveil a tennis dress that she designed. It was a special event sponsored by Nike, where Sharapova spoke to underprivileged teenaged girls, who are not members of the club, about her experiences as a tennis player. They also made t-shirts. Sharapova didn’t want to talk about her personal life, but did say that she doesn’t like to date tennis players...who play better than she does.

The next morning, Sharapova was at Fortunoff, the store on Fifth Avenue, launching her new watch, TAG Heuer Formula 1 Diamonds, which she also helped to design.

What’s next, a fragrance? Er, yes, actually, launching August 24. It’s made by Parlux, the same folks that brought the world Paris Hilton’s scent.
