Los Angeles, June 22 – Shhh. Don’t tell the West Coasties, but Broadway musicals aren’t really high culture; they’re popular entertainment. But Hollywood was all atwitter with excitement at the L.A. opening night of the hit musical Wicked. Reese Witherspoon and Christine Taylor couldn’t get their men - Ryan Phillippe and Ben Stiller, respectively – to join them at the theater. Garcelle Beauvais, Clay Aiken, Tim Allen, Amber Tamblyn and Desperate Housewives’ Andrea Bowen all hit Hollywood’s Pantages Theatre for their "no business like show business” fix. Adding authenticity were some real Broadway regulars like Lainie Kazan and Shirley Jones. Liza’s half-sister (and Judy Garland’s daughter), Lorna Luft, had theater queens fainting. |
