Rolling Stones: BBC = Boring Broadcasting Co.

New York, May 10 – You know how when you’re on your lunch hour, and you run over to the deli for a quick sandwich and as you walk down the street the Rolling Stones break into a concert, right there on the street, for free, and then you’re late getting back to work? Don’t you hate that?

Yeah, that totally messed up our workflow on Tuesday. It turned out the impromptu concert outside of the Julliard School in Manhattan was to herald the Stones’ upcoming tour. After energetically performing a couple of songs, the rockers got a bit confrontational during a press conference.

A reporter had asked fans in the crowd for questions, and chose one from a young girl who wanted to know where the guys got their sexy moves. Mick Jagger cracked, “From her mom.”

Next, a BBC reporter asked whether they’d left England for tax reasons, to which Jagger retorted, “A typical question that could only be asked by an Englishman.” The reporter shot back, “I’m from Wales.” Then Keith Richards chimed in, “A boring question. The BBC: the boring broadcasting company.”

We’re kicking ourselves that it wasn't us who asked the Stones whether they’re doing the tour for the money or for the love of music. Everybody laughed, and Jaqger said, “Well, you can have the money.”
