Las Vegas, May 17 – Naturally, everyone was curious to see Kenny Chesney and his brand new bride, Renee Zellweger, at the Academy of Country Music Awards. In the press room, as country music’s finest paraded in front of us, we kept asking if the Chesneys would be coming in. “You mean the Zellwegers?” was the universal response. Yes, just like back in school, Chesney’s buddies laughingly insisted that they were going to tease him, calling him Mr. Zellweger. Kenny did come and see us – he won an award, after all - but Mrs. Chesney was not in the house; reportedly she was elsewhere, shooting a film. That reserved seat with her nametag on it sure did look lonely.
