New York, April 19 – After premieres in Sydney, Berlin and
a hundred or so other cities, even Nicole Kidman
is apparently sick of talking about her new thriller, The Interpreter,
and declined interviews at the New York premiere. (Sean
Penn, of course, was a chatterbox, and we couldn’t
shut him up as he ran by, clutching his wife, Robin Wright
Penn.) Nicole’s buddy and Penn’s former costar
Naomi Watts was there, as were Sheryl Crow,
Ted Turner and Tim Robbins. Robert
De Niro made an appearance, as the premiere marked the
beginning of his Tribeca Film Festival. Mariah Carey
will probably have to see the film again; she arrived almost an
hour late, and missed most of it.
