New York, March 17 – It seems that the conservative look
didn’t help rap queen Lil’ Kim avoid
conviction. A federal jury today found Kim guilty on four counts
of lying to a federal grand jury about a 2001 shootout involving
her posse. Kim froze when the verdict was read, and remained motionless.
Her personal assistant, Monique Dopwell, who was
also convicted, broke into tears upon hearing the guilty verdict.
After the crowd had filed out and she was alone in the courtroom
with her mother, Kim began crying, but composed herself before she
went outside to face the media barrage. She made no comment, and
her lawyer, Mel Sachs, said he would issue a statement
tomorrow. The only bright spot was that Kim and her assistant were
acquitted of obstructing justice, the most serious of the charges
brought against them.
