After the always fun Heatherette show, we at Open All Night enlightened photographers that the dude in the cropped blue jacket who emancipated transperson Amanda Lepore from a giant wooden crate, and then showered her with confetti, was, in fact, Jake Shears, Britain’s top-selling recording artist.

Outside post-show, not a paparazzi bulb flashed as Jake emerged from the Bryant Park tents. We alone applauded as he passed by, the shiny, wiggly thing still atop his head, and he grinned and said, “Thanks”. Heatherette is famous for having a surprise model in their shows, and Paris Hilton had to cancel, reportedly because she was in rehearsals to host Saturday Night Live. We Yanks were so disappointed, we didn’t appreciate Jake.
