New York, Sept. 8-10 – Seen and heard during the first few days of the New York spring/summer 2005 fashion shows: At Esteban Cortazar, actress Vivica Fox said, “I was really happy. I got a front row seat, a little champagne, some good fashion.” Fox told Open All Night, ”I’m really a shoe whore, to be very honest with you. I will work for a pair of shoes!” Fergie, lead singer of the Black Eyed Peas, on Fashion Week: “You know, it’s a week of decadence and debauchery, and I’m enjoying every moment of it.”

At sexy swimsuit show Rosa Cha, we asked designer Esteban Cortazar who he’d most like to dress. “I would say Jennifer Lopez. That would be, like, my dream.” Would My big Fat Greek Wedding star Nia Vardalos wear a tiny Brazilian bathing suit? “I have one! My husband calls it ‘the string’.” We asked if she only wears it at home. “I wear it in Malibu! I don’t care. The only thing I won’t do in it is play volleyball with my girlfriends, because for sure, one of the girls, these girls [cupping her breasts], is going to pop out and say hello to everybody else on the beach."

Strewn about Tommy Hilfiger’s front row were Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri, Nick Lachey and Denise Richards. Sean Combs is really developing as a designer, showing up at Zac Posen’s show with a lapdog, a Maltese called Sophie, dressed in a doggie sweater bearing the logo “SJ”, for his Sean John line.

Paris Hilton modeled in Heatherette’s fun, rock 'n roll themed show, then left with sister Nicky and Bijou Phillips, who began scarfing what looked like cake the very moment she got into the car, before it even pulled away from the curb.

Shock and awe (and delight) at Alice Roi, when at the show’s end, models came out and held up signs reading, “Will you marry me?” She said yes, to fiancé Mark Beckman, tears and congrats all around.
