Los
Angeles, May 6 – At the Natural Resources Defense Council’s
Earth to L.A. – the Greatest Show on Earth benefit,
Tom Hanks told frenzied members of the press
that after the event they’d need to get some milkshakes.
We’re not sure what that means, and Hanks didn’t
enlighten us. Maybe it's the newest Hollywood diet fad? His
wife, Rita Wilson, came separately - maybe
she stopped for a milkshake on the way over. Later, with a
horrified expression on his face, Hanks asked a heavily tattooed
photographer why she had so many.
At one
point, Linda Thompson left her composer husband
David Foster’s side, ran over to Martin
Short, and claimed he was her date. Foster then cut
in, said that Short was actually his date, and kissed
him right on the lips! Short looked shocked, like he was holding
his breath.
Bike-race
champ Lance Armstrong and rocker Sheryl
Crow were glowing with togetherness at the fundraiser.
Crow and Willie Nelson both performed for
a crowd of Hollywood heavyweights that included Leonardo
DiCaprio, Jack Black, Les
Moonves, Diane Keaton, Nia
Vardalos, Will Ferrell and Rob
Reiner. Robert Kennedy, Jr., a big
NRDC supporter, was on hand with wife Mary.
