New York, April 19 – At the launch party for John Varvatos’ men’s fragrance, we weren’t paying much attention as Rocco DiSpirito told an announcer from some fashion TV show how cooking, “something women traditionally did”, puts him in touch with his feminine side. That’s because we were staring, transfixed at the reality show star/chef/alleged ladies’ man’s face full of makeup. After he’d moved on, we tapped said reporter on the shoulder and asked, “Was he wearing makeup?” Reporter and cameraman nodded in unison. We all shrugged. DiSpirito also told reporters he was there because he needed shoes and jeans. We guess he mistook the club Canal Room for the Varvatos showroom. Instead of clothing, he found a model-y crowd of scruffy young guys and skinny girls, plus Michael Imperioli, Jason Patric, models Daniela Pestova and Patricia Velasquez and the As Four designers. Carson Kressley said he hopes the new fragrance "smells like John". He knows what John smells like because he used to work for Varvatos.
