New York, April 12 – The silent auction at the 15th annual GLAAD Media Awards wins our vote for organization – laid out like a department store, large signs hanging from the ceiling let guests know exactly where their favorite items were: “Apparel”, “Travel”, Art”, etc. Maybe they took tips from the Queer Eye’s fab five, who joked that they were there “because we have new outfits”. Actress Julianne Moore received an award, and those cheering her on included her Far from Heaven director Todd Haynes and actress Glenn Close. When we asked Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay if anyone in her family was gay or lesbian, she thought for a moment and said, “No, not in my close family, but in my extended family a million people!” Hargitay then added, “One of my father’s best friends had a sex change when I was seven, so I was exposed to it very young”.
