Costume Institute Gala

Sheryl Crow   Charlize Theron   Anne Heche

New York, April 26 – During the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum, where a who’s who of Hollywood and fashion ate $3500 dinners while being entertained by Hugh Jackman and N.E.R.D., Open All Night spent an inordinate amount of time in the smoking areas (cough, hack). The two tented spaces, one on each side of the museum doors, turned out to be quite popular. At one ironic rock n’ roll moment, we were smoking with Keith Richards’ daughters Theodora and Alexandra, while Jade Jagger puffed in the opposite tent. Other smokers: Narciso Rodriguez, Ivanka Trump, Carson Kressley (bums smokes), Sophie Dahl, Natalie Portman (chimney), Scarlett Johansson and Thom Filicia. Hanging in the smoking sections but not sure if they were actually smoking (hey, it was crowded and there were many drinks): Sofia Coppola, Calvin Klein and Kate Spade.

Forget handbags, the accessory of choice for the rich and famous is a fashion designer. Scarlett Johansson brought Calvin Klein designer Francisco Costa, but left with Tara Subkoff while Calvin left with Hilary Swank. Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld brought Narciso Rodriguez, and kept him. Sofia Coppola brought Marc Jacobs (but she’s had that old thing forever.) With her usual understated style, Jennifer Lopez brought two – Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. J. Lo left through a side door so as not to be seen with her secret love, Marc Anthony. Shhh....

Oh, and we'll break the news that Donald Trump has been paid back for firing all those hopeful apprentices. He's been replaced by Anne Heche as head of the weird hair department.
