New
York, March 22 - At the premiere of Danish director Lars
von Triers’ Dogville, we didn’t
get to ask star Nicole Kidman if her father
has yet seen the film - she told us at a screening in October
that her dad had sworn off watching the film due to its brutal
content, which includes rape and torture. Cast members Kidman,
Lauren Bacall, Patricia Clarkson
and Ben Gazzara hit this premiere and celebrated
at a meatpacking district joint.
The real shindig
that evening was a small private screening of the Coen
brothers’ newest, The Ladykillers. Stars Tom
Hanks and Marlon Wayans, Hanks’
wife Rita Wilson, Kevin Bacon,
Marcia Gay Harden, John Waters,
Frances McDormand and others were pleasantly
surprised when Bruce Springsteen showed up
at Capitale for the after-party. This was a “non-press”
event, but we didn't read the fine print.
