June 9 – Fresh from his Tony Award win the night before, Hairspray’s Harvey Fierstein hosted the 31st annual FiFi Awards. The FiFi Awards have nothing to do with dogs, as one colleague assumed. They’re the Oscars of the fragrance industry, where scents are named best in their various categories. Model Niki Taylor made a rare appearance. Frenchie Davis, the American Idol finalist voted off the show for being overweight, laughed all the way to Broadway – she’s now appearing in Rent. She sang a few bars for us. Daniel Sunjata told us he gets tired of people teasing him about his nude scenes in the Broadway hit Take Me Out. Look for actress Hayden Panetierre in the upcoming movie Raising Helen, with Kate Hudson. Smells good to us.

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton signed copies of her new best-selling book, Living History, at a Manhattan book store. The former First Lady stayed on for several hours to accommodate fans lined up down the block.
