June 16 – Broadway stars performed under the stars at a free outdoor concert in Bryant Park. And on one of the few evenings this spring without rain! Thousands of fans were treated to song and dance routines from the casts of Broadway’s biggest hits. Edie Falco, Jane Krakowski, Chita Rivera and Mary Stuart Masterson were among the many performers. Antonio Banderas couldn’t be there at the last minute, but his wife Melanie Griffith, who will soon be onstage in Chicago, took over hosting duties. Billed as a tribute to New York City, the event kicked off the summer concert season. Singer/songwriter Jewel closed the concert, making us wonder if Broadway is in her future.
