April 7 - Despite
an April snowstorm, music reigned Monday evening at the Eos
Orchestra's benefit gala, hosted by composer Philip Glass
and Sex and the City's Kim Catrall. Among the
guests at the dinner, performance and auction were legendary
composer Stephen Sondheim, artist Chuck Close,
actor Oliver Platt and other movers and shakers. Naturally,
there was live musical accompaniment from beginning to end.
Uptown at the GLAAD
Media Awards ceremony we found Rosie O'Donnell, Diane
Sawyer, Cynthia Nixon, director John Waters,
Rosario Dawson, Phil Donahue and Marlo Thomas,
to name a few. We were torn between these two events this
evening, so we compromised and went to both.
