February 22 - Twas
the night before the Grammy's and all through the town, creatures
were rocking. Clive Davis' legendary pre-Grammy Awards
party was the big ticket on Saturday night. The Wall Street
Regent Hotel was up to its chandeliers in an ocean of talent
too deep to list here. Aretha Franklin, Justin Timberlake,
Rod Stewart, Alicia Keys and Lou Reed all took
the stage. Despite tight security and A-list glamour, Davis
managed to keep the vibe low key and downright friendly.
The Roseland Ballroom
was home to a double whammy. Peter Gabriel, Alanis
Morissette and Chuck D were honored with MTV's
Rock the Vote Awards. British pop star Robbie Williams,
Vanessa Carlton, The Flaming Lips and Chuck D's rap
group Public Enemy rocked the crowd. Everyone wondered where
Kylie Minogue went this evening. We found her here.
Blender
magazine took over the venue at midnight for the most spontaneous
event of the evening. Kid Rock, Dave Navarro,
Slash, Melissa Etheridge and Gavin Rossdale
jammed on into the morning. Actress Gina Gershon, in
skintight jeans and leather vest, jumped onstage and danced
all night.
