February 6 - 15
- Maybe it's the Iraq situation or the fashions are just plain
scary, but New York's fall 2003 Fashion Week was celebrity-lite.
Women's Wear Daily's Monday headline, "Attack of the Killer
B's", referred to the B-listers attending the shows. Never
fear, the intrepid Open All Night team sifted through the
riff raff and found whoever was to be seen. We applied our
unique scoring method to the runway shows, and came up with
the winners.
Our system excludes
repetitions: rap diva Eve, rap mogul Damon Dash,
and actresses Hilary Swank, Claire Danes, Kim
Cattrall and Rosario Dawson made multiple front
row appearances. Marc Jacobs came in first with
Liv Tyler, Gina Gershon, Maggie Gyllenhaal,
Kristin Davis, Jimmy Fallon, P. Diddy,
Sofia Coppola and Drea DeMatteo. Runner up is
Sean John with Kelly Osbourne, Mary J. Blige,
Macy Gray and Kelly Ripa.
Our celebrity meter
beeped for Sarah Jessica Parker at Narciso Rodriguez,
Craig David at Luca Luca, Camron and Alicia
Keys at Baby Phat, Patti LaBelle and Wyclef
Jean at his wife's label Fusha, and Renee Zellweger
at Calvin Klein. We also spotted the first fashionista,
W daughter Barbara Bush, at Zac Posen.
Eve is such a fashion
hound that she changed designer blouses between Carlos
Miele's show and Narciso Rodriguez's an hour later. Backstage
at Narciso, we confronted Hilary Swank, self-professed Marc
Jacobs girl, who stammered, "Um, well, I'll always be a Marc
Jacobs girl at heart. You know, I love Marc, and I…. it doesn't
mean there's not room for others. My heart's big." Harvey
Keitel and ex-wife Lorraine Bracco avoided each
other at Imitation of Christ, where their daughter Stella
modeled. Bracco said to her companion, "My ex-husband's here.
I don't mind, but the media….". (Ahem.) Icy cordiality ruled
when Harvey's current wife Daphna introduced herself
to Bracco.
