February 21 - MusiCares named Bono 2003 Person of the Year for his accomplishments as a musician and as a humanitarian. And what a tribute this was, with a stunning guest list from the worlds of music, film and politics. Robert DeNiro, Gwen Stefani and No Doubt, Tony Bennett, B. B. King, the Dixie Chicks, Michael Stipe, Ashley and Wynonna Judd, Christian Slater, Norah Jones, Elvis Costello, David Bowie, Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow, Kim Cattrall, Mary J. Blige, Bill Clinton, Aretha Franklin and The Edge attended, and many performed. A late night party at the Hudson Hotel followed. Made the Grammy Awards look like amateur night.
